I would use something in 150 gr. The deer I shot last year with my M1 I was using a 165 gr Hornady interlock which didn't expand very well and really didn't give impressive performance. Running a 150 gr bullet at around 2800 fps is probably going to be alot better than a 165 gr bullet at 2500-2600 fps.
