My opinion on #2 is that they start getting a little big and slow the shot down , this leaves a drop in your shot or your tajectery is not as flat. This can cause the hunter to start hitting low from where he would want. 4-5's are a great load for birds in range and 6's will fill the gaps in the pattern...BT
