Gundigest.......what type of water and where will you be using it? steelhead fishing done best can get a bit specialized depending upon the waters you are fishing.........
Eastern Great Lakes can range from light #5-7 long rods typically of 9'6" and 10' to protect fine tippets and enhance drifting/mending to more typical saltwater/bass style 9' #7/8/9wts if you might also encounter Salmon.
Out West you typically have much bigger brawling rivers where heavier gear and even Spey casting rods can be used effectively.
