The consenses seems the same here on the 710. Not Remington's best effort. The Ruger 77s are good rifles. I also like the Browning A-bolts and the Remington 700s.
If you're on a budget, don't forget to check out the used gun rack. You can find some nice 700s sitting on the racks there. I just picked up a Ruger 77 Lefty in 7mm Mag for $350. It has a couple of dings in the stock but the bore was clean. You could see the rifle was used, but not abused. You may find just what you're looking for.
Now if this weather in the NE ever breaks, I may even get out and try my new used 77 out.
