If given the choice, I like shooting does for meat. I've reached a point in my hunting that regardless of AR or not, I won't shoot another small buck. I hunt areas with decent deer populations. Some also have good chances at big bucks, some don't(although better now with AR's)

I'd be happier shooting 5-6 does a year and a real nice buck every 2nd or 3rd year, than shooting a small buck and 1-2 does each year.
