the floating yolk? If so, the idea is that the cable can self-adjust on the yolk to offset the side pressure from the cable slide.

Is it better? Beats me. One nice thing is its easier to make a cable for it, splitting a harness is a pain to serve (ya, I'm lazy sometimes )
