I have a .45 Omega that I got in December and although I haven't gotten to do any full load workups, so far its doesn't seem that I will need anything more than maybe 120 grain tops. I have had good results with 90-100gr of 777 and pretty good results with 2 50gr Pyrodex pellets.
I am still buying every bullet/sabot type I can find locally to see what works well but when it comes time for deer season my money will be spent on bullet of roughly 200grains that shot the best in my rifle. I am getting ready to order some sample packs from
PR Bullets in their Dead Center line as they are supposed to shoot well. Time will tell I guess. They do offer both a .40 cal. bullet and a .357 cal bullet saboted for the .45 so I will have some options to play with anyhow. Other than the Dead Centers I am hoping to try the Hornady SSTs in 200gr.
Cabela's 2004 shooting catalog offers all the bullets I listed above though you can get the Dead Centers in multiple count packages from PR Bullets and save some $$$. I you are a pellet shooter the Cabelas catalog also offers the new .45 777 pellets. I haven't tried those myself but I am happier with loose powder thusfar anyhow.
