Default RE: SIMMONS Pro 50

I don't know if I can help you or not. I have not owned a 50MM Simmons. I did however just get (today) A Simmons Pro-Hunter straight 6X40. I took it out just about at dark tonight with my Leuplod 3x9 for comparison. That new 6X40 blows away my Leupold. I was looking across at the park where there was a lot of big cedar trees. I could see under the trees well at almost dark. This baby gathers some serious light. I have been reading customer reviews on this scope for a year or more and finally decided to give one a try. I like 6X scopes but they are getting hard to find. Luepold has a good 6X power but this Simmons is 200.00 dollars cheaper. Many of the reviews I read were by people who have this scope on Big Magnum rifles like the 458 Win Mag. I have yet to read a review that was negative in any way about this scope. Now before the flack starts to fly, I am aware that only time will prove this scope to be durable and hold its Zero. And I will get the old you get what you pay for. But this scope is unbelievably clear and sharp as well. I am getting a couple more and putting them on the shelf until I need them. They have a life time warranty. If it does not perform well I will be back on here with the details but from what I have seen so far its a keeper big time. I am going to start out with it on my new Ruger all weather 260.
