Excluding full metal jackets most any bullet weighing at least 150 gr. will work fine for whitetail and mule deer. These bullets do not have to be of the premium type. Many a deer has been taken with the 150 gr. core-lokt and the 150 gr. power point. The best thing to do is buy a few boxes of ammo from different manufacturers and use the one that gives you the best accuracy. One load that has given me good accuracy is the Federal Premium 165 gr. Sierra Game King Boat tail soft point. This load is a good deer buster also. However if you get good accuracy from the Remington or Winchester loads save yourself the money and use them because dead is dead!
