I've thought about Cpt. Backstraps idea on the foreign scent. If you use fresh earth scent in a stand of pines then deer surely wouldnt be too used to it. Yes there is dirt there but the pine smell IMO is stronger than the dirt. Also if you spray your boots with the fresh earth spray the deer could come right up to you and get a whiff of the steps you use to go up and end up staring you in the eyes.
