What advantages does the WB offer? "The arrow won't fall off the rest"? Thats the only thing I have ever heard from WP users. My arrow never falls off my rest, and I use a simple prong style. What are you guys doing up in tree that makes your arrow fall off so dang much? dancing the jig?
I covered this question a few posts back.........you can read the benefits I listed there if you haven't already. Not falling off is just a nice bonus.
2-3 fps??......that is a concern to you?? String silencers of practically any brand will slow a compound more then that but I bet 99% of guys here use them.
No it doesn't. Read the numerous posts of WB owners and they all say their vanes are just fine. I have shot over a 1,000 shots with my current arrows and no problems with vane damage at all.
can't be micro adjusted,
If you mean with a clicking dial then you're right. My WB has marked incriments that make small adjustments simple so no big deal IMO.
can be noisy when cold
Why are so many people hung up on the WB and the cold?? Here's a little hint.......if it's so cold and icey out that you are worried about your WB freezing or not working........there are about 10 other parts of your bow that require motion to work properly.......they are all shot too if your WB isn't working. Also, your arrows, vanes and heads will be covered in ice and therefore very inaccurate. I really don't see the logic in that debate.
and still louder than my traditional prong rest even when not cold, and yes I have tested that.
Everyone percieves sound differently. I find my WB to be very quiet......and on a Patriot you will hear unnatural noise if it's there. I know that from experience. I love the silent draw I get with my WB.....something you can't get from prongs unless you cover them with something.
And by the way, the reason you don't see top archers using them is b/c they are not as accurate and as hunters we should take that to mind and strive to use equipment that will give us ultimate accuracy.
That is just silly.........we are talking about killing a deer here. Something that can be easily done by being able to hit a medium paper plate sized target. To say that a WB is going to throw you off so much that you can't even group arrows is just plain misleading.
I have shot with prong, drop away, and now WB. I don't shoot any better or any worse with any of them. If my form is good and I anchor well and don't punch the release.......I will hit what I am aiming at. I can stack arrows in nice tight groups out past 30 yards. I consistently hit the 8 zone on my 3D target from 50 yards.......the rest performs just fine. Could I win a tournament with it???..........who cares??? I don't........what I do know is that I am more then confident that I can make a good clean, quick kill shot on a deer in my effective range. That's all I care about.
I also had beautiful flight from Magnus Stingers 2 blade, Muzzy 3 blade and SteelForce 4 blade out of my WB this year..........I'm not saying the rest is the sole reason for that........it sure isn't holding me back though.
