RE: Which tactical rifle should I buy?
There's absolutely nothing wrong with the Savage Tactical rifle-I think it's the 110-they have it in several calibers, I'd get the .308, a .30-06 is just stupid for a tactical rifle, this coming from one of the biggest .30-06 lovers around...tactical/sniper rifles are made to kill people at long ranges, thankfully, most of us that own them don't use them for that, but just for target shooting...the .308win shoots practically identically to the .30-06 but kicks a LOT less.
I've also never heard a sniper vet worth his salt prefer a .308 over a .30-06, but I won't say none of them have ever said that...usually if it's not the .308Win, it's the .300win mag that they sing praises about, must have been someone outfitted in a hurry with a enfield or something goofy??
One that I'm really glad I picked up, a custom Remington 40x in .338Lapua, it's not really nice to the shoulder, but it's a heck of a long range round.
Another one I'm glad to have bought, Remington 700PSS in .308, heck of a shooter, I've taken coyotes out to 748yrds with it-just shy of half a mile for those of you counting!!!
Biggest thing to remember is to get quality optics, there's nothing more pitifull than a Remington 40x with a Tasco 4x42mm glass on it...no point in having a 1000yrd rifle with a crappy scope that doesn't let you see that far with it.
