RE: 6.5x.284
It would have been really interesting to have lived 50 or 60 or 70 or 80 years ago when "wild-cating" cartridges was a more meaningful endever. There are so many factory cartridges today that there is hardly a nich that isn't filled.
It is still fun I guess to build and shoot a wild-cat but do you really achieve anything new as far as balistic performance goes?
Like how does a 6.5 X .284 differ from a .260 Rem. or a 6.5 X 55 Mauser?
Now if you made a 5mm X .284 and could get some long bullets of say 75 or 90 grains you would have a long range varmint gun between the .22s and the .24s
