Default RE: How Do You Define " Cast" ?

ORIGINAL: TJ SILVERTIP

CAST is an ole term for " SMOKIN BABY" !!!! A.P. is right,, the ole timers had cast, we now have F.P.S.!! Cast is how far a bow can sling a arrow, and f.p.s. is our updated version of CAST.
Afraid not. Cast is how far the arrow actually goes. You might launch a light arrow at a high FPS that will slow down enough that it actually doesn't carry as far as a heavier arrow launched at a slower speed. Likewise, a lighter arrow might not absorb as much energy from the bow as a heavier one and therefore be only marginally faster to begin with.

Again for each draw weight or bow design there's probably an arrow weight that has the best cast and it might not be the fastest arrow initially. So strictly speaking FPS and cast aren't the same thing.
