RE: when do you use the different calls?
Bigone, this to me is really what seperates the turkey callers and turkey hunters. You can be a great sounding turkey caller but a lousy turkey hunter because you dont know when and what call to use in a given situation in the turkey woods.I always like feeling a gobbler out and let him dictate what he wants to hear in my calling.A good rule of thumb if he is hot get aggressive if not give him less.Really though I believe experience in the woods "in hunting situations" gives the hunter a real edge on those who dont quite understand turkey talk.Theres so many situations we can find ourselves in on a days hunt, from the roost,to the ground, with hens, without, call shy, hung up and so on.To give you one call or a bunch would be diificult to do to solve every situation. But I will say this being able to read a gobblers mood and interest in your calling can help considerably in knowing what calls to make to him to bring him your way. <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
