RE: when do you use the different calls?
I've heard callers who can make a turkey call do things that seem impossible. That still ain't anywhere NEAR as good as the real thing. So, I try not to give them any more than they require to respond. I'll start out with a cluck, then move to soft yelps and feeding/social noises, then get louder and more agressive with the yelps, and, after a while, do some cutting. If I am on private land and SURE I'm alone, I might try a gobble just before I leave and start over somewhere else. The biggest and oldest tom I ever took was with only 3 clucks. Sometimes less is better.
