For me, I think every one of them work well at anytime. In the morning when the birds are about to fly down, very soft yelps are the best, so when the tom in the tree hears that small yelp, he knows a hen is there and the first thing he is gonna do when he flies down is come looking for it. So if you hear him gobble after a few yelps, get ready, he knows you're there.
