Lyman is a great rifle. Friends I know, two of them had .54 caliber GPR's one had the GPH. From talking to all of them, one said it came they took it out of the box, cleaned it, and it has been shooting perfect ever since. One had to heat the hammer and bend it a little (I never asked why but I think it had something to do with the way it struck the nipple) and one complained about having to re-set a couple of screws. But I do not think you could have gotten any of them to part with them. They sure could shoot with them rifles. I shot them and they really were a nice rifle. Well balanced and they held so nice in the shoulder. I have always thought of getting one and someday I will. I think I will get the kit and put a .54 caliber together. Good luck with your rifle. All that stuff sounds kind of minor and should not be too hard to fix......
