I must definitely say that you have the right idea for a starting bow. My only recommendations would be to go and look at and hold, draw, and shoot as many bows as you can possibly get your hands on to get a feel for what you need to look for. And then scour Ebay for the best bow that fits your desires in the money you want to spend. You can definitely find some of the best deals on Ebay but don't overlook the occasional pawn shop and even pro shop for used bows.
