Default RE: Hevishot #7.5's??

Read the March, 2002 edition of Turkey and Turkey Hunting. They have an article on the new HEVI-SHOT turkey loads. Some interesting facts...HEVI-SHOT set a new world record at the NWTF World Still-Target championship by placing 42 pellets in a 3" circle at 40yrds. Previous record was 34. In testing between #4 lead and #4 HEVI-SHOT, a piece of galvanized steel was placed at 40yrds. The steel dented it...the HEVI-SHOT passed through!!! HEVI-SHOT is denser and heavier than lead, therefore it carries more downrange energy and will allow you to shoot a smaller size shot.

I know Remington now loads HEVI-SHOT turkey loads and they've come out with their own special choke. It's a .675 restriction. I contacted HEVI-SHOT by email. For my Benelli, they recommended a .665 restriction with either #4 or #6 (equal success with both). They did however state that you need to ensure that both your gun and choke are steel-shot rated...contrary to what Field and Stream reported in their October, 2001 issue.
