RE: Anyone happy with a cheap scope?
I've owned scopes from $5 to $500 new. Simmons, Tasco, Bushnell, weaver steel and Japanese weavers, and Leupold.
I've returned scopes for repairs to Weaver (in Texas), Bushnell, and Leupold. Customer service was excellent from all of them but best from Bushnell. The weaver and the Bushnell was returned because I damaged them...the Leupold was defective internally.
Optics on the Leupolds is very fine but optics on the others is adequate for the task at hand. I can't say that one gets a better scope for the additional money.
Keep the Simmons until it gives you reason to trade it....My guess is that it's just fine for the task. Get the Leupold when you have the cash!!!
