Default RE: Good bullet for 45/70

ORIGINAL: 338

I have tried a few different bullets but I am not happy. The rem 300 gr jhp expands too quickly and the 300gr win partition gold pokes holes in and out with nil on expansion same with the rem. 405gr. All kill deer but looking for the middle of the road. I hand load so I will go that route. I shoot a marlin 1895 so maybe I can stay with the partition golds and pump up the fps some. Looking for suggestions .. Thanks Bill

sorry i missed this post but there is no way you can compare any other factory ammo with buffalo bore and garrett these are the max loads that they make if you have been shooting remington 405 grain you would be in for a big surprise to shoot ethier of these brands. they both have there own web site and you can order from them. i have been shooting the buffalo bore 405 grain and they are very powerful , they will shoot thur a motor block and still have some left
