San Diego is cool. YOu have great drinking in Tijuana (if that's your thing), excellent salt water fishing boats that go down the coast of Baja.

Hunting, if your're in the military, you can rifle hunt on Camp Pendleton which I hear has great deer availability.

Also, I've hunted and harvested turkey and predators in the Cleveland National forest, near Palomar mountain. There is a lot of deer hunting availability there too. Just get out of your truck and hike back where the other hunters don't dare to go. Plus, during dove season, you can drive and sleep in Yuma AZ, and hunt dove on the california side of the colorado river. Nearby Riverside county has some excellent hunting lands.
