The following is JUST MY OPINION. I was stationed in SD for 2 years in the Navy. I didn't enjoy being there very much. It was better than the 3 years I spent in Japan though. The Cali drivers are ruthless and don't slow down for anything. If you were to throw a dixie cup full of water on the Interstate it would cause a 10 car pileup. I hated the traffic jams everyday. Everything was very expensive. I don't know about hunting, because I was very busy and I didn't have the time or money to even try, but I did do a little fishing. The fishing and the weather were both excellent!! I know a person who was stationed on San Clemente and she said there wasn't much to do. She came in to SD whenever she could. It sounds like you have a cool job lined up though or that is what I gathered from your post in the offseason forum. I'm sorry if I'm being a downer, but this is JMO. Good Luck.
