Hardcast, Florida deer are very very small. With the right bullet a .22-250 would be on the small side but properly placed would be plenty to drop an average Florida buck. While I wouldn't recommend it myself, it should be okay for Florida but not really anywhere else. My old man used to crack me up saying he has had dogs bigger than the biggest Florida buck ever taken.
