That's good information. I have always used a very tight patch/ball combination. But with black powder, I just slid the patched ball down on the powder with the ramrod. I doubt the compression was more than 4-5 lbs. I think I'll need to get some kind of ramrod palm protector similar to what I see on some of the in-line ramrods, like the one that comes with the Accura, in order to put 35 lbs compression on the load.
