Having never purchased a Powerbelt Bullet, nor used one for shooting paper, nor used one hunting, i had/have no preconceived notions about how they do or do not work. One thing seems true; the 300 grain Platinum Powerbelt does penetrate as well as most commonly used; respected bullets. A question then, one might ask, is why the strong bias against Powerbelts?
Here maybe is the answer...........
The
245 grain Powerbelt Hollowpoint blows up on the near side hide, and many many hunters have experienced this failure. The tests using the carpet, plywood, waterjugs had the bullet blow, right now, right away, the instant it hit carpet. The performance of this bullet may be why jillions are biased against Powerbelt Bullets. The way this bullet works on animals is very very similar to what the bullet did on the carpet, plywood, jugs.
