I hunt Zone 3 and will be hunting the same week you are. We hunt both public and private land. We've gotten more birds off of public land than private, mainly because there is a lot of public land in zone 3. It's a huge zone, so it will depend on which part of it you're hunting. But, in general if you have some agriculture in your area, there should be plenty of birds. We had an easy winter this year and pretty good nesting success the last 2 years. Good luck.
