I shot one about 4 years ago in NY with the shotgun that had 6 inches of shaft and a Muzzy buried in his spine. He was walking and feeding fine. There was the slightest of discoloration of the meat an inch each side of the shaft. When we examined him in the field he had like a tiny scab over the entrance hole. We just thought he' d been horned by another buck. When we skinned him we found the arrow.
