The machine was not a "gift" from the "dealer" so you checking out the machine thoroughly before accepting delivery would not be an insult to the person who gifted it to you but it would have been you making sure the person who bought the gift didn't get stiffed! You chose to post your experience online and you should have known there would be comments on your experience. The advice given to you by Super_hunt54 was good advice. Your accepting the gift without making sure it was delivered in the condition it should have been was kind of a kick in the teeth to the person who gifted to you because any conversation you you have with them regarding the gift will be on a sour note or you will have to lie and tell them everything was rosy! Being timid about getting what you should get from a dealer only buys you trouble, as you have already found out. By the way, the term is you don't "look" a gift horse in the mouth, not "kiss' it in the mouth.
