Some of the 1-48 will shoot conical bullets. Some much better then others. Also you have to ask, what range will they shoot conical bullets accurately. For instance my 1-48 twist Renegades shoot REAL conicals very well but after about 75 yards the accuracy really falls off badly.
I have a Lyman Great Plains Hunter with the 1-32 twist. It does shoot sabots, round ball and some conicals very well. But I have yet to test it at any distance. A suggestion I might offer ... a older traditional Renegade for instance you can find a drop in 1-28 twist barrel that shoots conicals very well. But you are putting a lot of money in that adventure as the rifle will run around $300 for a nice one, and the barrel (depending on the seller) $125 -$200 but remember $200 was their new sale price. The reason they are high is they are no longer being made.
Are you considering inlines? Or are you set on a traditional style?
