Yes, they were, but we're talking about a Renegade. The PA was a hex to round barrel too, and I believe the gun was made for flintlock season that had to use a PRB. Of course they wimped out and sabots can be used now.
You're partially right Muley, the earlier ones were oct to round but I have a friend whose PA hunter rifle has a full length octagon barrel. My wife's PA hunter carbine barrel is octagon, understandably.
