Thank you for welcoming me on this site. Yes, I killed a nice buck this year with 25-06. As matter of fact, it was within 40 yards this year. I, personally, never made a 1000 yard shot before, but I am up for that challenge this coming year. Furthest shot I've shot, according to RangeFinder, was 763 yards few years ago. Weather was perfect. Crisped air, few sun rays between the hills, and wide open shot from hilltop to hilltop. I missed the 1st shot, but I followed up with a second shot and killed a very nice 10 pointer buck. I am aware of other fine calibers out there among with 6.5 Creedmore, 30-376, 7mm-08, 243 WSSM, 25 WSSM, 257 Roberts and Mag, but I've felt 25-06 was the best choice for me. 30-376 blew my mind, but the price of ammunination is outrageous.115gr Federal Sierra Gameking is the perfect choice for my Pre-64 Winchester Model 70.
