Default RE: Feed the hungry-Donate a deer

We' ve had this conversation at the camp a few times. In our Wildlife Managment Unit (WMU) there are far to many deer and they are becoming a nusiance to farmers and a danger to motorists and this year they are again issuing additional tags to those that want them. So what this tells me is that there is a surplus of deer. However due to Canadian laws any meat not for personal use must be goverment inspected and in most cases slaughtered at a goverment slaughterhouse. Therefore we have no program in place in Canada to provide the poor or needing with fresh meat that has been harvested by caring private citizens.

How popular are the programs in your areas? Are city folk ok with eating Bambi?
