I've personally never had any problems with the big connies or even the little fellers I shoot out of my .45 LC (Keith style SWC's) but I use a fairly hard alloy (Tin and tiny bit of anti in the mix) to make them. I've used them out of .50's for years and flat out hammered hogs weighing in excess of 250, a few Elk, and a few Moose. I don't think one ever got up and complained to me "how dare I use an old style bullet in this day and age".

Now granted I have been away from ML'ers for a couple of years paying more attention to my archery and that is more what is capturing my interest in the new designs of all these bullets out there nowadays for ML'ers. But I can't take away anything from the big, slow, plow faced meplat connies. There is an art form to mixing lead up for them big boolits. Just a tad too soft and you get poor penetration and a tad too hard and you get a pencil through. The boolit Art made for this particular test looks like it might have been just about right. Some here seem to believe that the innards of a deer or elk is as hard as the water in these jugs. News flash, it aint! Fluid dynamics is a bit hard to wrap ones head around because people want to see water as a soft target. It just doesn't work like that. At speed of impact, water becomes a VERY hard surface. Take a fall while water skiing at over 40MPH and you will see exactly how hard water actually is. Internal organs and blood itself has a LOT of elasticity which lends itself to being a softer malleable surface than water to strike at speed.

The performance I see from this bullet here tells me it would blow through a 200 pound hog out to 100 yards and pretty much wreck it internally. I've used about every conceivable bullet type, broadhead type, firearm type, hell even spears and knives (in my younger, more stupid days), in the many years I have been hogging. That bullet right there would be a LETHAL bullet to pretty much ANY North American big game animal.
