I was thinking the same thing if he has a Sako!!! I was also thinking that there is no way anyone would get close enough to any of my rifles or other equipment in that type of a situation to cause something like that in the first place.
At our ranges you leave your weapon on the bench, and step back across the line. The range officer walks the line and ensures that all the weapons are clear. If they have to move your weapon to check it they do. I've never heard of a problem though.
I'd like to mention that years ago I fell off of a mountain with my Ruger rifle, and old weaver scope. The cross hairs looked like an x as opposed to a cross. But the rifle still held it's zero.
Buy a good scope!
