OK Topgun I'll put it in real plain English, $386 for a Savage 110 Combo, gun is great a legit 1/2 MOA shooter, don't trust the scope on a deer hunt so I replaced it with something better built and now I love the rifle all the more, sure I could have just bought them seperatly to begin with but that would have cost me more since the rifle alone cost more then the combo, and if it is worth anything to you those Bushnell sportsman scopes are not a bad little piece of glass for a 22, sure beats those cheap tasco and centerpoint scopes at Walmart and it is essentially free so why not. That is the point I was trying to make. So don't always avoid combos, just figure in replacing the scope/rings/base when counting up the money since they will likely fail you at some point.
Thank you for enlightening us about your particular situation and making your point clear on the second attempt! If that's the case and you got the combo cheaper than you could the gun's individual price, then good for you for making a wise decision and killing two birds with one stone! Sheridan and I just were making comments to the effect that most combos don't have real good optics with the package price not being good enough to justify buying them together. If a place happens to have a price such as you describe and you need the scope for another rifle anyway where it will serve it's purpose, then good for you!
