Depends on how much you shoot and the type of gun. I have both and 06 is much easier on my shoulder than 7mm. My 06 is a rebuilt surplus rifle with a bolt action that, after 30 years, still drives tacks. My 7mm is a Ruger 1B, that I use as a backup cause it kicks like a mule, though I have killed deer with it. Then there is the cost of the shells. 06 Remingtons can be had at Wallyworld for $10 - 11, while 7mm can be had for $18 - 23.
