You have come to the right place. It' s great to see some new guys on the board! Anyway, a Remington 700 is a fantastic gun, especially the BDL. For deer, and cheap ammo, the .243, .257 Roberts, .260, .270, .280, 7mm-08, .308, and 30-06 all offer lower ammo prices, and all have taken alot of deer. I believe all of those calibers can be found in the Remington. Magnums will work fine, but with higher ammo prices than you might be looking for.
