Bought my first Savage (Axis 7mm-08) a year ago and found it smooth and accurate with cheap Bushnell 3X9X 40 mm scope. Have a bad shoulder so firing 40 plus rounds each week caused a bit of pain so sold it and got a model 11 Lightweight Hunter in 260 Remington. Extra Special rifle with Accutrigger, accuracy is 0.350 inches at 100 yards using Nosler Ballistic Tip 100 gr. and no pain. Selected Nosler 125 gr. Partition cartridges with 1 1/2 inch group at 100 yards. so will work up a hunting load some day soon.
Last winter I purchased a second Axis in 223 and it's also smooth and very accurate and cheaper to shoot with less powder. I use Varget for both rifles. Largest game I plan to hunt is white tail deer and both rifles are legal here but the lighter more powerful 260 is my favourite to carry and shoot. No success this year but the shooting with these rifles is fantastic.
