It does make you wonder.... Maybe deer can' t judge the speed that autos are moving and figure they can beat it across the road? I did that once and ended up with a few broken bones!

We have a buttonbuck that beds over the hill from our house. He watches us as we do yardwork or whatever. The only time he took off was when I forgot and tossed some old tomatoes over the hill. This same deer whom we have given the name " Buttons" is seen all over the woods. I have practiced stalking him several times and could have taken him a couple of times. One day I am coming down off the hill and I could see him bedded under an apple tree. He watched me the whole way and at one point he was only 10 yards away. We have an agreement - as long as he doesn' t have enough points we won' t shoot him!
