I've just heard the shock of a muzzleloader can damage a centrefire scope. I can't see how it would but just thought I'd ask.

Cheers guys,

Most of the experienced shooters here and on the other muzzy boards all use rifle scopes.

The key is choosing a quality scope to start with paired with a quality set of rings and bases set up and mounted correctly.

Usually when we have people come to the forum with problems it's with cheap "trashco "scopes or quick site mounts being the culprits.

As a general rule of thumb my goto list for under $400 in optics is Leupold ,Nikon, Minox, Weaver and Ziess.

Look for a MIN of 3.5 eye relief. I like 4 better but I can live with 3.5 if the price is right and the glass is good.
