I gotta say, this does prove that deer can really shine when they get some age to them.
This guy is in upstate PA. A big woods, mountain deer. These bucks have long had a reputation of being 150lb spikes and 4 points.
When the game commission instated antler restrictions 11 years ago, I wasn't a fan. But I've really seen the difference. We have numerous bucks over 200lbs and a couple every year in the 230-250lb range. Last year, someone got a 300 pounder (weighed) on our property and now this guy shows up. I'm also seeing non-typical bucks every year now and more and more bucks with G4s.
Sure, it's harder to get a buck than it used to be. But the chances of getting a real hoss have never been better.
