I agree with Major...while cleaning out some reloading supplies from my grandfathers stockpile a couple years ago we came across several boxes of Speer and Hornady bullets (just happened to be .243 as well) in various weights (some still had price tags on them.... $0.99...yes, 99 CENTS! for 100!!!)...the soft pointed bullets have and will perform just fine for small game and deer in my opinion.
