Be careful how much you trust a human institution.
Specifically in this case, KDWPT usually defines 'hunt-own-land' exemptions as land owned, rented, or managed by the hunter, spouse, or immediate family, and defines limitations for that minimum as 80acres to qualify for the exemption. The 5 acre plan here doesn't fit.
Ultimately, no reason not to get your hunters safety permit and hunting license (cheaper than a bow or air rifle).
