I really wanted to help this guy out because I'm a new-ish hunter myself. And I hate to post incorrect information. So, believe it or not, I picked up the phone and called the Kansas Dept of Wildlife yesterday to ask. The information I posted was straight from the mouth of a KDWPT employee. She assured me that neither hunter's safety nor a hunting license is required when hunting on your own land, but that if you hunt anywhere else, they are.
Original poster - due to the risk of incorrect information, I would recommend you call the KDWPT yourself with your questions. They're always happy to help. And, while some of us may think we know, calling them will never yield bad information.
