I a found a box marked reduced at a mom and pop reloading supply store today. They said that was a mistake but they let me have em anyway. Interestingly enough they say Gold Dot on the box but when I looked on Speer's web site, the #4484 number on the box makes them a Deep Curl bullet.
Anyone shoot these at deer and what do you push em with?
I have shot a couple of deer and a lot of paper and dirt with them. They are a very well made bullet and pretty darn strong. The best part the... the Gold Dot/Deep Curl bullets are bonded and have controlled expansion built into them.
A lot of people do not like them because of the deep hollow point - but that actually adds to the design of the bullet.
Here are some 'tortured' Gold Dot/Deep Curls' that I was testing for durability...
I normally shoot, 110-120 grains of T7 with these while hunting.
The first chart is with 100 grains of T7 and the second is with 110 of BH-209
