And I struggle to believe anyone is still getting an acceptably dense pattern at 65-75 yards with straight 5's even with hevi shot. No doubt that a hevi-13 number 5 pellet would kill at that range if it hit the spine or brain but that would be a dicey proposition at that range.
Best pattern I have seen at 40 yards with Hevi-13 5's was about 141 inside 10 inches. At 50 yards that pattern is already going to be sub 100. Maybe as low as 75. By 60 yards it's going to be well below 50. By 70 yards you would be very lucky to put 20 pellets inside 10inches. And I'm being generous with those estimates.
