A .243 is a good choice for PA deer, and the new Remingtons shoot very well (despite what some of the internet "experts" say). I have a few friends that have this rifle, and all seem very happy with them. The ADL stock is not extremely stiff, but that can be said of many other rifles also. You can always upgrade the stock later if you wish (many aftermarket items for a Remington). The bottom line is that it is a good rifle, at a good price.
