If you are caught between the 243 and 7-08, just split the difference and get a 260 Rem. Seriously though both of your picks are great cartridges, you cant go wrong with either but I would seriously look at the 260 Rem. while you are at it. Personally I would make it easy and just buy all three. Problem solved!
Look at the Savage Lady Hunter, they are chambered in the 243 and 7-08 and are built with a lady in mind.
